yep you can. u can take coach from Aukland to Rotorua, and then visit Waitomo. if have time can also take a view of lake taupo. but lakes in south look much better (personal view). then take coach to wellington. cross the cook strait by ferry. then go to nelson. visit the Abel Tasman national park. from there, u can go to Franz Josef and Fox Glacier. there u can take a small plane or helicopter to enjoy the beautiful mountain view. then to Queenstown. a lot of group offer one day or two days journey to Milford Sound. then to Christchurch. if have time can also go to Kailoura for whale view. but recommend again, book first. especially for the cross strait ferry, helicopter, milford trip and whalse view(which is recommended book 7 days before).

Thank you, Happy Lee. I hope the time will be enough to visit both islands. Since I have not the driving licence, I prefer to take the train or coach, can I visit the main views from Auckland to Milford sound?

rend car or use public transport system? both islands? u can try this site for accommodation http://www.backpack.co.nz lot of back packet information. but for B&B, the rental is quite high. January is hot season there. u'd better book the accommodation and traffic in advance. If you would like to see the whale, take the helicopter for mountain scene, bungi or other activities, remember to book first. 2 weeks is enough for browser the beautiful scenes, but not enough for enjoy the beauty of NZ. Any question can send to iscp9072@nus.edu.sg.
