New Eritrea Restaurant is the best of Ethiopian Food. Tucked away on the west side of San Francisco, this is a truly enjoyable experience. Located at 907 Irving Street it is easy to find. I like dining in the back dining room because of the glass ceiling and closer to the kitchen so you can smell all of the beautiful food being prepared. You must start out with a Sambusa, there are three kinds, meat, lentil and mixed vegetables. For the entrée, I enjoy Kilwa (tender beef sautéed in butter with tomatoes, onions, garlic Eritrean spices), Also I enjoy Alicha begee (savory lamb cooked in a mildly spiced turmeric sauce with onions & garlic). My favorites though are Kitfo (finely chopped lean flank steak, mix with seasoned butter accompanied with homemade cheese & mitmita) and Gored Gored (pieces of tenderloin tips served rare in awaze & butter dip - it is spicy, but does not burn you). They also have a great selection of wine and beer including Ethiopian brands. For dessert try a glass of Honey wine. If you are Vegetarian or Vegan, they have about 8 types. Something for everyone. I love the Injera that you use to eat your food with. Also on the bottom of every platter there is Injera and it has been soaking up the sauces while you eat, so when your done you have delicious Injera to eat (like dessert). Do not miss this restaurant.
