...ars now whenever we feel like real Italian food
We have been coming here for a number of years now whenever we feel like real Italian food. Their clamari fritti is crisp but tender and fresh, the best in the Bay area. Also, their calamari salad is fresh, succulent, and delicious. We always get those for appetizers. The last time we were there last week, we had their specials - rack of lamb and haddock. They were excellent - the rack of lamb was rare as requested, and very tasty sauce. The haddock my wife had was also outstanding and succulent. In addition, steamed mussles and veal saltimboca, their menu items, are excellent. This is also one of the very few restaurants that knows how to make an East Coast style dry martini (ironic in that martini originated in SF and named after Martinez). Massimo, the owner, is gregarious but friendly and keeps the restaurant in shape and flourishing. The only downside is that this restaurant is not on Open Table (the Via Veneto's on Open Table are in Chicago or Los Angeles), and you have to call to make reservations
