I stopped in for coffee and stayed for breakfast when I was in DC on business. First, the coffee was terrific and the selection was good. Second, and possibly the most important, the service was truly exceptional. During the 30 minutes I was there, the gentleman behind the counter recognized about half of the customers, knew what their preferences were and engaged them in friendly conversation. Any place that can attract that type of loyalty from the locals has to be good. So,I ordered breakfast, a tomato and spinach omelette, I declined the cheese. From that the gentleman inferred, correctly, that I would not want butter on my toast and brought it out dry with jelly. It is not often that someone takes the time to figure out what a customer needs. I will return.
