Located conveniently close to Las Ramblas and only a short walk from Liceu lies a really fantastic Tapas restaurant. Despite its location however this is a locals spot so brush up on your Catalan/Spanish because English, as we discovered, will only result in very perplexed faces in here. The restaurant is small, probably not suitable for large groups, but there is plenty of tables for 2-4 people. The restaurants appearance is aged, and there is not much of a welcoming atmosphere, but this is par for the course with local spots that rely on getting repeat customers through good food rather than presenting a facade of quality to lure in tourists. Expect very generous portions of great tasting food for pretty damn reasonable prices. We had the Jamón ibérico (comes with bread), Patatas Bravas, Pimientos del Padrón and a large bottle of chilled water for under €20 which was sufficient for two (throw is some croquettes if you're really hungry). Extra recommendation on the Jamón ibérico Combo platter, it was alot of great meat. Maybe worth noting that the Patatas Bravas are served coated in Ketchup and Mayonnaise, which was delicious, but some patatas aficionados may take issue with this. Very highly recommended for anyone who knows atleast little bit of Catalan/Spanish, has a dictionary or doesn't mind awkwardly pointing at a menu. (The bathroom is tiny, about the size of a coffin and can produce some awkward encounters as the lock is a little stiff.)
