the friendship restaurant/bar is the place to hang out in. the food is quite decent. their pizzas, strawberry shakes and waffles with ice cream are the food many of the expat community survive on. like most restaurants in PY, the menu is limited, but whatever is offered is good, and you can rely on them to serve the same quality (which can not be said for all restaurants there). friday nights are dance nights, and almost the entire expat community hangs out there, either at the bar, or the pool tables, the karaoke room or the dance floor, till 2 am. the servers are smart, speak perfect english, and remember your name, orders and the tab, no matter how crowded the place. an essential part of the expat life in pyongyang.
