Living in the hotel in front, and after reading the reviews, I decided to try my luck in the Alvis Restaurant. It is located in the ground floor of the Hotel Albrechtshof, property of the evangelic Church of Berlin. On the outside, the suggestion of the day was luring me: Rumpsteak backed with cheese and honey, and puree and mushrooms. The restaurant has a courtyard and I decided to enjoy the fresh atmosphere. I was sitting in the total dark, with all light coming only from the hotel and the restaurant nearby. A comfortable feeling. A very professional waiter arrived near immediately to take the order, prepared very fast the table and let me to wait the food with a good beer as company. When the meal arrived, it was eye-catching. My good mood started to change after some bite. All was well presented, the meat perfectly prepared.. but full of nerves. The time I could finish it, it was totally cold, and I was regretting my choose. Not even the mushrooms and puree - very tasty - could compensate me for the bad surprise. So, to try to balance to the better the dinner, I ordered an ice-cream. Very interesting in his description, and with professional presentation. But that was all. For 8,50 € I think that a client deserve more then whipped cream from the box, 2 little balls of ice with total taste of cheap ice powder. Having worked by myself in Italian ice cream shops, I know a bit how an ice should taste.. So, my opinion after the visit: very nice the courtyard, and professional the service and the meal presentation. May be not lucky the choose of the cut of meat, horrible the ice-cream. But I don't feel to give the cook a second chance, a bill over the 30€ for "those" food is not justified. Sorry.
