One of the cheaper places to eat in Canterbury and handy for the Marlowe Theatre. It's had an upgrade from tatty formica to wooden furniture and it's clean enough, although the décor doesn't attempt to disguise the fact that this is a cheap and basic café - it's a small step up from a greasy spoon, but a very small step. Chairs and tables are crammed into it's narrow corridor like form - spacious it isn't. The menu is very basic - fish and chips, burger and chips, lasagne and chips, baked potatoes etc. and the ubiquitous all day breakfast. Service is fast and efficient - friendly enough without being really welcoming. Portions are adequate and the food okay - it's basically very cheap frozen food quickly fried/grilled and served with a bit of lettuce/grated carrot, ready for you to smother in cheap catering ketchup/mayonnaise from squeezy bottles. If you want something, quick and cheap it serves well. It doesn't pretend to be fine dining or in anyway ambitious - it's cheap and basic with a menu that won't frighten fussy eating small children or adults who still think garlic is an exotic foreign vegetable.
