We showed up at 8pm on a Friday night without a reservation. The place was packed (always a good sign) but we were quickly led to a table for two, complete with fresh flowers and lit candle. Service was friendly and attentive but never rushed. We enjoyed complementary warm bread and olive oil while we sipped our wine and chose from the menu. we chose steak with roast veg and fries and lamb tagine with couscous and Greek salad. Both were beautifully cooked and really tasty. We declined desserts but had an Amsterdam beer and then good coffee. We left with a recommendation for a local brewery (Brouwerij Tij), which we will visit tomorrow! The building is a conversion of the old bath house, which gives it a quirkiness that we enjoyed. It was nice to dine amongst locals out of the tourist buzz of central Amsterdam. A great place and highly recommended. Four drinks, two mains and two coffees came to €54, great value for the quality.
