Pie & Tart Specialists is a Hong Kong style bakery that, as the name suggests, specializes in pies and tarts prepared and baked in a Hong Kong style. Stopped at a Pie & Tart Specialist shop recently for a the French Corn Pie (HK$13) which was basically a traditional pie crust filled with mash, a bit of corn and sauce that was somewhat like mayonaise. The taste was rather bland (rating 2.5 of 5) but didn't taste terrible. Much prefer the chicken pies, these have been tastier at Pie & Tart Specialist branches when I've had them in the past. If you are interested in trying a meat pie (or similar pie), its worth noting that local taste preferences are for sweeter, tarty flavored crust compared to the more savory preference of many western palates. And the pies here are have thicker crust and less filling compared to what you find in western countries. This style doesn't lend itself well to traditional savory pies, like chicken pies, curry beef pie, etc and those expecting something similar to what they find at home can potentially find themselves quite disappointed with the Hong Kong style of making pies, which works better with sweeter pies, like the milk tart pie you can find here. As long as you understand what you are ordering and your expectations are realisitic, its a fun place to try and you can get a couple pies for under HK$20, which is very cheap for buying pies anywhere.
