La Tavernetta is in one of the side streets off of the square where the changing of the palace guards takes place. As such, the location is filled with tourists and tourist shops. My wife and I had a late lunch here after a fair amount of walking, so we were happy to take a table on the walkway outside the restaurant. The waiter, who I assume is the owner by his manner, is a force of nature, seating people, clearing the tables, delivering the food, enticing passers-by, chatting with guests, all in different languages. The menu is a little bit odd in that there are pizzas you can have split to share between two people, but combinations of toppings for pizza that you cannot get split. I don't understand why. In any case, the pizza was quite good, the rose we had was refreshing, and the owner was entertaining. All in all, it was a way better meal that one could expect in that location.
