When we tried to eat dinner here in 2014 the whole restaurant had been taken over by to a wedding party. We tried again in 2015 and this time we got in. Within walking distance of the Hotel Gimmond, where we always stay in Kyoto, we figured this might be a useful dinner place. Located on the top level of a posh shopping mall, with posh shops surrounding a big two story open courtyard, the restaurant too is posh. The courtyard was covered with blue fairy lights - very pretty. The prices, however, were not impossibly high for the so-called entrées; the main dishes were more expensive. We had a big house salad, prawns and avocado salad, prawns anhijos, eggplant something, and chicken with burdock. We had read somewhere that the restaurant was all veg; this was not the case which was fine with us. We ordered a basket of various breads - very small and definitely over-priced. In fact, all the servings were small, except the big salad which was very big indeed and a very good deal. Perhaps this is a place to visit for lunch, which includes an all you can eat buffet. All the food was very good and draft beers went down quite well with the meal. Will we return? Maybe. However, since we found a new izakaya, more relaxed and more to our liking a short walk from the Gimmond, the answer is weighted more heavily toward maybe not.
