Firstly, this restaurant has changed hands and has been renamed "Il Giardino Segreto" (The Secret Garden). It is located at the end of a side street just off Via Panisperna, only a short walk from Santa Maria Maggiore, but slightly awayfrom the main tourist area. From the street you go down a series of internal stairs and emerge into a paved garden with the major part set with tables under a canvas roof with wooden walls, either side of this are several external tables. Our visit was at lunchtime and we opted for the €15 set menu, from which we had a good antipasto, a first course of delicious pasta carbonara (dripping in butter and the pasta was al dente). Second course we chose pork in peppers. The set menu offerered a choice of three dishes for each course and the main menu, of course, offered a wide choice - but all very traditional Roman cuisine. Staff could not have been more attentive and helpful, despite limited English (and our even more limited Italian). Only criticism is that house wines were a bit basic for our taste. Well worth a visit.
