Beamers looked appealing from the outside, and since it was located within a block of where we had parked our vehicle, decided a quick cuppa was in order before heading home to Calgary. Upon entry, the interior looked fine, not exceptional either way, but then, we were simply buying coffee not making a lifelong commitment for real estate. Before my eyes even had an opportunity to adjust from the brilliant sunlight outside, I was drawn to Beamers display of coffee beans for sale. I'm a sucker for fresh roasted coffee, and continually search for brands I've never seen before. Ma Kettle and I both picked out a 'roast' that looked interesting, and asked the cashier if we could purchase a cup of each prior to buying the pound bags. I lucked out since my choice was on tap, and they offered to brew a single espresso for Ma. Unfortunately, my coffee was in a pump container on the counter, something I always avoid like the plague, and in this case, the container needed a real good wipe. My first thought was to cancel my order, but we had already paid and didn't want to be a pill. We ordered two cranberry-orange muffins as well, chose a table, and waited for Ma's cup to brew. Well, my coffee was lukewarm (as expected) and at least an hour past its best before time. The muffin was probably from the previous day. I was batting two for two, while Ma picked away at the centre of hers before deciding to discard it. She enjoyed her fresh brewed cup of coffee but decided this decaf espresso bean wasn't worth buying long term. I was disappointed, expecting a fresher cup of coffee than I received, and the muffins simply added to our displeasure. This was a coffee bar after all (as the name implies). Understand we stopped about 4pm, three hours past the busy lunch period, and probably an hour or two past coffee break time. Not prime time for coffee lovers. I would bet, certainly expect, their mornings would be booming, and a cup of java would be much better at that time, but the freshn
