This is a great place to try local authentic Burmese food. You chose from different kinds of protein (chicken, fish, pork, beef or whatever that is available) and the vegetable tapas will come with. Tapas include sautéed green leaves, bamboo shoots, eggplant etc stewed in oil, and other dishes mainly stewed in oil or sautéed. I love this whole concept of being able to try a little bit of everything. The restaurant looks like a typical road side shop with bamboo walls and a roof with simple wooden tables and chairs inside. The very casual restaurant is exposed and very much outdoors like all of the other restaurants surrounding it, and there is a beer bar next door. As of June 2014, the meal was around 1,000 per person, so 2 people with large beer came out to 3,000 which was like $3 USD. Definitely local prices, cheapest that I've had in Bagan, including even the food stalls I had been to. The restaurant is located in an area where open air restaurants cluster across form the Hotel at Thabar Gate. The lady there was really nice and attentive, we chatted about the Japanese TV show "Oshin" that was on TV that night. That TV show seems to leave a lot of good impressions about Japanese hard working women around the world.
