We have supported the restaurant at The Olive Exclusive Boutique Hotel since the day they opened and have noticed that lately (the last 2 years) the standard of the service and the food that's serviced have deteriorated. On Thursday evening 4 out of the 5 times we had to call a waiter to ask for service. When we inquired what the line fish of the day was we were told "hake". When we queried this as hake is a deep sea fish we were informed that they ran out of kingklip and substituted it with hake but the price for the dish was not adjusted. I don't have a problem with the fact that it is a small menu but the items on the menu change very seldom which makes it uninteresting for regular visitors. This Thursday the potato soup was good but the Panzanella salad needed more flavour (must add that it was a huge portion). The lamb shank was good on Thursday evening (as well as beginning of May when we were there) but the meat was a bit dry and a bit of sauce would have added an extra star. The risotto served with the lamb shank was very good.
