Le Bellecour is a favorite of a Kyoto business partner, and it was easy to see why. One of those restaurants which is a reflection of the owner's passion for his craft. When French food is done well in Japan, it is done very well indeed, and this is a great example. The map on the restaurant website will guide you there, about 10 minutes by taxi north of the Okura Hotel. Lunch set menu for 3200 yen, dinner set menus at 4800 and 5800 yen (and upwards). Wines start at around 4000 yen. I am still mourning for the passing of Kyoto's sublime "Au Coin Tranquille", but this is a more than able substitute.
