read a review in qantas magazine on flight to Sydney and went to the ortolan that night. It was superb - great service, attentive and caring - was on my own and the waitress offered to sit with me if it made me more comfortable! Chose prix fixe menu and had ceviche of white fish with crab, scallop tartare and turnip. The chef came out to chat with me and offered me fresh truffles from Tasmania to try. The dish was delicate, sophisticated, picture pretty - pea jelly and tiny pansies - very clean tasting and most importantly something I couldn't make myself. Followed this with a spiced soufflé with almond milk ice cream and black figs - takes 25 mins to prepare - rich and yummy - figs sweet/savory combination? great combination for ladies, maybe men would go for the mains. can't wait for the next trip to Sydney!
