Travelling alone can have its drawbacks - like eating at restaurants alone ! On this occasion it was well worth it. After an exhausting day at the Fine Food Show, I needed some regrouping away from the maddening crowd and right next door I found 'Shed 5' There's nothing in a name , but there is plenty here. The menu reads like a gastronomic journey - it took me back to my childhood memories of the best cooked food , but with sofisticated style. From the wild spinach pie made with home made pastry, to the king prawns that melted in my mouth , and ending with the slow cooked (14 hours) lamb neck with pinenut filled dates. Each course was just superb and more interesting than the previous one. I asked for the menu again, not because I was hungry, I was deciding what to have the Next time !! It's the type of place you could eat at ( very ) regularly and not tire of the type of cuisine - it's just good wholesome food cooked with care and lots of flair without compromising the integrity of the ingredients. A truly old concept that has been forgotten in this age of Nuevo food and molecular experimentation. I look forward to my next visit to Melbourne and my next trek though the menu at Shed 5 !! - a never ending story...
