wishlist for a while。and if I'd more time that ...
Tried this place out one cold mid-week afternoon after a local walk, and loved the downstairs den area with a range of reading material on the walls, plus comfy couches and book nooks to catch up on your reading. While the kitchen wasn't serving meals when I arrived, they were happy to toast up a breakfast roll for me, which hit the spot. I took a pot of strong black tea instead of the coffee, and didn't regret it - the small cup and serving tray was just right to balance on the table for two I occupied towards the back, along with the couple of books I was reading. There was also plenty of seating in the outdoor cafe area with plants and open spaces - just too cold for me that day to be out there. Here's the beauty of this coffee place compared to others in the same area: it's all in the books. There's a myriad of choices for avid and social readers to peruse - in cooking, gardening, linguistics, general fiction, politics and social history just to name a few popular genres. On the downstairs staircase wall alone I spotted three titles I'd had on my wishlist for a while, and if I'd more time that afternoon could have spent the next hour or so in the downstairs den cozied up with a few delicious tomes and sweet treats. It would also be an appealing spot for kids who could browse the children's range while carers had a quiet moment on the couch with coffee! Recommended to stop off here if you fancy a bit of educated light reading with your coffee - I found staff were all very helpful and effusive - and that's a great thing in the late afternoon when everyone's usually had enough and wants to go home! I think it would be busy during weekends and peak periods, but still worth a trip to check it out.
