They probably won't win any awards but this is the second time I've been there and I haven't been disappointed. It's got a pricy wine list, but we had the homemade sangria instead and it was perfect. The pizzas were better than Japanese average, as was the pasta. The salads we ordered were excellent, and met that Japanese and Italian taste for octopus just right. I not only recommend Anchovie Café, I intend to visit again when I'm in the area of Kyoto University again. Just be warned that you will need to read Japanese to read the daily blackboard menu and take advantage of the specials.
