Don't let the outer appearance of the place, and the food display fool you into thinking this is not going to be absolutely delicious. Everything is prepared fresh, every day, with traditional recipes. I had the tiella with octopus the first time, with artichokes the second, and then tried the 'polpette di alici'. My husband loved the fried pockets with ricotta and tomato inside (a wonderful to go bite), and the tiella with vegetables. Friendly hosts behind the counter, shy at first, but eager to explain what everything is ( questions about the various fillings) if asked. Will go back again and again. Worth the detour from the center of Trastevere.
