This family owned confectionery in downtown Budapest is a real gem from old Europe. It's located just across from Westend City Center shopping mall on the big avenue Vaci ut (NOT Vaci utca - totally different places). Here you can get home made cakes and ice cream for a really good and reasonable price - they were even running an ice cream special offer when I was there. Their cakes are just HUGE and very delicious - not for someone on a diet though. They do have some low-sugar options, at least from the ice creams, but hey, you don't really go to such a place to keep a strict diet anyway. Try Dobos Torta or Kremes - traditional Hungarian specialties, both are very filling and sweet - don't even try to stuff 2 slices in, one will fill you up totally. But do take some with you - the place is tiny so you probably won't be able to eat it there anyway. Big thumbs up to the owners for keeping this shop up and running for several decades, without giving in to the over-commercial shopping mall across the street.
