We met out of town guests staying nearby for dinner on a recent Friday night. The neighborhood (Glover Park) is quiet and friendly for its proximity to Georgetown and there are lots of interesting choices in the area. Slate was chosen on the recommendation of the Concierge at our friend's hotel, noting it was convenient, walkable (for our guests) and not likely to be too crowded. He was right on all three counts. At 7:30 we were the only guests for dinner - through the bar was doing a brisk business. The service was OK - waiter was a little slow and inexperienced with the menu - but the food was good, as noted. The portions were small (relatively) and the prices were about what you would expect for a weekend dinner in the city. Bottom line - nice place to stop in if you are in the area - Sunday brunch appears to be their specialty - but not worth a long drive if you are not.
