Rating the food: Average Yumcha (6/10) My family has been here many times for Yumcha but not for a long time. This used to be the best place in the Northern Suburbs of Sydney. We visited again this month and it is still busy, crowded and popular with Chinese families - as it is still the only place in Eastwood that serves Dim Sum. Unfortunately it has gone downhill. It was very disappointing that there was a lack of variety of vegetable steamed dumplings. We ate the Har Gau (Steamed Prawn dumplings) which were poorly made - the skin disintegrated when grabbed with chopsticks. These dumplings used to be made better, but these days there is not enough attention to detail by the chefs. My parents enjoyed the Tripe and the Fung Zhao (Chicken Feet). The Lo Mai Kai (Glutinous Rice) was a bit dry. The Whitebait was unacceptably cold by the time it arrived at our table. The best dish was the Har Cheung (Steamed Prawns in Rice Noodles). This restaurant has traditional decor like many other older Chinese restaurants in Sydney. The wait-service was poor and many of the waitresses were not keen for us to have a closer look at their dumplings in their carts before selection. Suggest that diners ALWAYS ask to look at the Dim Sum as they vary widely between different restaurants. My father surprised us by kindly shouting the meal for the whole family even though us kids were prepared to pay - so I don't know if it was good value this time or the price per person. There are better Yumcha restaurants in the Sydney CBD & Southern Suburbs. See my Food pics on Twitter: @YumchaAddict
