We should have walked out when we saw the waiters wearing heavy, winter vests. They had a tiny fire place going and that was the extent of their heat. The coffee was terrible which is so rare in Melbourne. The coffee was too hot - the milk was burned - and the coffee had poor taste. There was a pretty design on top, but there was no substance to the style. The staff were very pleasant but Cafe on Auburn has NO passion for coffee or food. We had the Salmon Supreme and the pancakes. The poached eggs were not runny, the bread was grocery store fare, the salmon portion was tiny and the pancakes were small with no presentation appeal. There is a new place around the corner that will be a big risk to this business - "Blood Orange". We actually went to Blood Orange first but their street had a power outage so we had to go elsewhere. We will be back to Blood Orange, but not Cafe on Auburn.
