A friend highly recommended Pho So 1, considered it as No. 1 as the restaurant’s name implied. We were underwhelmed to say the least. It faces Reseda Blvd has two doors to get in, the back one from parking lot. Parking (on the back) was packed today maybe due to the neighboring grocery store. Its setting was simple and plain. Service? As many people mumbled: slow and no smile. Since it’s Pho restaurant, we certainly ordered Special Combo Pho ($6.95) and Rare Beef Pho ($6.45) and surely, Spring Roll wrapping shrimp, beef and rice noodle ($6.45). Phos were O.K., but not in any way outstanding. Beef for whatever the reason was a little “dry”. Spring roll was “tasteless”, so-to-speak: you would see shrimp and beef but you won’t appreciate there were shrimp and beef. The dipping sauce (without traditional peanuts?) was plain and lacking the flavor I’d like.
