8 team members from our office were looking forward to a beautiful fine dining experiencing on Friday night, and after 2 days of conferencing in the Yarra Valley, we settled on Oscars which was based on a referral from somebody from our office. The restaurant from the outside is lovely, set on beautiful landscaped gardens, however on entering the restaurant it took us back to the 70's. It appears there was some effort in trying to refurbish, however not successful. The menu looked appetising, and we went on to order our meals. Myself and 2 others ordered the scallops for entree, which were dry and tasteless, I was looking forward to my main which was the Duck, along with 3 others who also ordered this. Not only was the duck cold when it came out, but the green lentils were not cooked, the only thing ediable was the duck croquettes and as there was only 1 on the plate, I was left hungry. We also ordered a cake for 2 people in our party who were celebrating their birthdays, the cake was cooked the day before (that's ok), however when it was bought to the table, it looked like a young child had baked it. The icing was slapped on, and the cake was as hard as a rock. We paid in total over $500.00 for 8 of us to eat that night. Our waitress was lovely, however i think she was embarrassed by the feedback i offered her to pass onto the chef. I will not be going back, nor will I ever recommend this place to anybody unless somebody like a "Gordon Ramsay" comes along and gives the owner and the chef a well deserved kick in the butt. So very disappointed!
