Paris is known for its food, and we had a lot of excellent meals while we were there. But the best meal we had by far was at I Ghiotti -- we liked it so much that we went back a second night! It is a tiny little restaurant with one waiter and 2 cooks. You can easily see the cooks working in the spotless kitchen. There were only about a dozen intimate tables in the whole restaurant, which opened for dinner at 7pm, and only had one sitting. We did not finish our delicious, intimate and delightful dinner until 10:30 either night. The pasta tasted like it was freshly made. The bread was some of the best we ate in Paris (known for its bread!). The sauces were flavorful. The presentation was beautiful. One night we had an appetizer that was a large ball of some kind of cheese (I believe the waiter said it was a kind of mozzarella cheese) atop a bed of lightly sauteed vegetables. We could have made a dinner out of this appetizer itself! One night we had a cannoli for dessert. The second night we had their tiramisu. Get the tiramisu. Make sure you save room for dessert and get the tiramisu! Their wine selection was surprisingly large for such a small restaurant. The service was excellent, too. The waiter remembered us from our first visit, remembered my dietary restrictions, and made recommendations for us. There are a large number of restaurants in the area; be sure to make time to eat at I Ghiotti at least once!
