Booked a specific table outside for an afternoo...
Booked a specific table outside for an afternoon tea for a small party of 5 and when we arrived it was not reserved. No apology from waiter - someone else came and said they had booked an inside table. I needed wheel chair accessibility which is why a specific reservation was made for a specific table. Eventually got a table outside. We wanted something sweet to eat for tea......alas more disappointment. They only had 3 slices of chocolate cake, 1 lemon cheese cake slice and 1 lemon meringue tart. Yes that is what the waiter told us after having to run back and forth to check inside. The chocolate cake was awful - it was dry and icing was like wax; the lemon meringue tart was stale and sour - we returned it and promptly a fresh one was brought to the table ?!? What happened to the initial statement that there was only one ? Ordered scones but those too were dry and stale so we settled for ice cream and runny chocolate sauce. I must add that in the middle of the order, the waiter suddenly turned round to help a walk-in customer who wanted to order drinks - this was in the middle of our order. I was not expecting frills or fine dining at all - I was expecting the basics - and the prices are cheap so no gourmet cooking done here but with such poor service right from the start to serving stale food when you actually have fresh food is just not acceptable for any eatery basic or frilly. Will not return despite the pretty park surrounds.
