Every time we visit San Francisco, we are certain to visit the café and adjoining bookstore from which it has sprung. We've met many wonderful folks here, and have had enjoyable interactions, no matter what time it is. The staff is friendly, efficient, and actually happy to serve us. There are a HUGE assortment of teas, many pastries and bagels, and also many coffee options. (I don't care for coffee, so I can't elaborate on it, but the folks sitting there all seemed to be savoring it.) The clientele seems to be highly educated, and as with the staff, VERY knowledgeable about authors, titles, genres, whatever. (Staff are qualified to work both bookstore and café and provide an enjoyable experience.) Atmosphere quiet, relaxing and refreshing. As mrandmrs111 commented, Valencia Street is busy, and this place is lovely and peaceful.
