I visited "Mowlana" last Friday night (10/06/16) after spotting it very near my office and I noticed that it had very good reviews here on TripAdvisor. I had booked for 8pm and I arrived exactly on time. They were not that busy, and the staff were efficient and very friendly (I think "Mowlana" is Persian for "our master" or something; or maybe it’s just the owner’s name). We ordered the Hummus, Mowlana Salad (Seasonal mixed lettuce, tomatoes, cucmbers, olives and olive oil) and a Fresh Naan Bread (large, hot, fresh and homemade). All were delicious. For Main I had the Baghali Polow (fragrant rice with broad beans and dill, with a totally tender lamb shank which I think was flavoured with lemon and mint?, and a bowl of fantastically flavoursome consommé - only available on weekends which luckily includes Fridays). It was all was very good. It did however come with more salad of which I was not aware; I don’t think it mentioned that on the menu, and if I’d known I may have ordered a different starter. They don’t serve alcohol (apparently though you can bring you own wine with no corkage), so I ordered “Doogh” (a Yogurt Drink ), which was Salty not sweet like Lassi as I’d expected. I was not really a fan and I suspect it is an acquired taste; but this is my fault and due to my lack of familiarity. All in all, excellent food with excellent service and all reasonably priced. My first visit and definitely not my last.
