Our Japanese friends and their extended family enjoy this place and invited us there one Sunday evening and I have to say, what a treat! This past week we were able to invite our own extended family and reserved a table for eight at 7:00 p.m. with a ten minute wait. They have two servers and were extremely busy. The table service was patient as we all tried to figure out what deals were to be had during happy hour, which is all Sunday (and Monday)! Dinner hours are after 5 according to their website. Happy hour is also apparently Tuesday through Thursday 11:30 to 2:30, 5-6 pm and 8:30 to closing. If you have a large party you may also reserve one of two rooms for your group. We've eaten in the left room with a party of 15 and more recently, witnessed a large group of about ten coming out of the far right room. Portions are good and flavors are good. We ordered more than ten varieties of sushi so it was all a blur as to what we ordered but I do recall what two dishes stood out. One was a set of crab rolls topped with mushrooms, shrimp and scallop with some sort of teriyaki sauce. This one took a while to prepare so be prepared to wait a bit. The other was the heart attack and is a jalapeno with seeds scraped out then filled with cream cheese and spicy tuna inside, arranged on a bed of shredded taro and drizzled with teriyaki like sauce on top. There are four portions on the Heart Attack. Descriptions are in the main menu but not on the happy hour checklist. Yanagi Bistro on PCH on the border of Lomita and Torrance is a treat. I took off one star because the wait staff seemed to be stressed out. We've seen friendlier days there.
