Feeling lazy on our last night in Niseko, we decided to stay in and dine on-site in our hotel. Initially, I was expecting a good authentic Japanese meal since most of the patrons seemed to be Japanese. The sake was good and inexpensive. But some items on the menu were overprcied and a terrible value. The stone pot tofu soup was pretty ordinary. Sushi boat set was terribly expensive, but at least had the quality to back it. The udon was quite good, probably the best value there. We had ordered a fresh fish, which was the one item I was really looking forward to...but guess what? It never came. Even the table next to us whose patrons sat down after us had already gotten their fish-which looked quite tasty. And when I asked about it (had to wait a while for service), the server simply responded in poor English, that it was sold out and apologized. Wow. To rub salt in the wound, their merchant account charged an extra USD20 for credit card processing fees. The hotel itself did not charge for these fees, my local bank charged only minimal amounts. Conclusion: Nothing special, by foreign or local standards. If you must go, just get the items I mentioned above. Decor: 4 Food: 3 Service: 2 Value: 1
