The penultimate top floor restaurant of the Arc...
The penultimate top floor restaurant of the Arcadia Hotel has an apt name. The restaurant is flanked by Large Glass windows on 2 sides and offer a wonderful view of a lake on the outskirts of Kottayam on one side and the town itself on the other. A Lunch meeting is very distracting, since Kottayam has few skyscrapers and the Arcadia Hotel is one of the tallest buildings in the town. Yes, the view is wonderful. (The view isn't visible during dinner...) Unfortunately, the food and service lets the entire view down. The food is OK. They have tried to cater to many cuisines. The end result being that nothing is outstanding. The Kerala dishes are the better of the lot, but others are just about alright. Their buffet seemed better, but we had gone in for a-la-carte... The service fares worse. The stewards seem sleepy and in a perpetual hurry. There are no suggestions from their side other than, "That item is not available." There is no warmth, the smiles are forced. They aren't rude, but they aren't very welcoming either. All in all, if you want a really beautifully located, scenic lunch, with routine food and lousy service, Deja Vu is your place. Avoid it otherwise.
