The Strand is a tiny restaurant located on a very busy street in a neighborhood that is a bit run-down. I would have never selected it by the exterior appearance. Inside there is a quaint and cozy atmosphere, which is very casual and comfortable. Seating is quite limited. There are several tiny two tops, maybe two or three four tops and a long communal table near the window. We sat at one end of this table because the two top tables were really too small for plates and beverages. The menu is very limited. We had an off-menu special appetizer that was shredded pork, served in a 1/2 pint mason jar. It had been cooked in its own fat and was served with dry toast, two dabs of mustard and four tiny pickles. The pork spread had virtually no flavor. We ate it, but we were not impressed and would not order it again. I think there were four or five entree offerings. One was lamb, one was fish, one was pork, and one was beef. We both selected the grilled prime rib with fingerling potatoes and asparagus. The prime rib was outstanding. Served perfectly medium rare with a good sear on the outside. It was the best of a rib eye steak and prime rib roast, and was one of the finest pieces of beef I have ever enjoyed. The potatoes were slightly undercooked, and the asparagus had been steamed. I prefer mine roasted, but both vegetables were OK. We did not even look at the dessert menu. We had read the reviews of the olive oil cake, so we ordered one piece to share. It is a plain cake served with a bit of whipped cream and a few tiny shreds of orange. I did not care for the plain cake, but when I put a tiny bit of whipped cream on it, it was very good. I think this dessert would be better if they served it with a bit more whipped cream and many more pieces of orange. I love the ethos of this place. They seem very dedicated to the farm to table concept. A list of their current local suppliers is written on a chalk board above the doors. Everything we ate did seem very fresh, and the pri
