which made it feel like we had it all to ourselves
A lot of the reviews I have read seem to mark this bar down for it's high prices. It is a very stunningly beautiful bar, in a 5 star hotel, renowned for its luxury. I wanted to take my partner somewhere really special for a drink on his 30th birthday, and decided to come here. There was hardly anyone in the bar other than hotel guests, which made it feel like we had it all to ourselves. We sat at the bar, and watched the barman (who was wonderful) expertly make our drinks (which were delicious). The bar itself is small, but as soon as you walk in, you feel transported back to 1920s luxury. I felt like I could have been an heiress from an Agatha Christie novel. The views outside on the terrace are second to none. We went at night on a cold day, so the terrace was closed, but whilst we were there I was already looking forward to coming back on a summer's evening to take in the view. We had a Rossini, and a Florida which came to 35 euros. You could pay that for 2 drinks easily at a London nightclub. For such a special occasion, it was 100% worth it, and I would recommend it, just for one drink, to anyone looking for a decadent end to a special evening.
