A So-So Visit to the Winery I got a referral to the Vancouver Urban Winery from the Concierge at my downtown Vancouver hotel. A fifteen-minute taxi ride deposited me at an isolated location of Dunlevy Avenue. I was impressed with this large loft type restaurant, with walls made of brown wood, and sat at the bar. I had a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon (or "Cab Sav" in Vancouver Speak) and Pizzetta Margherita. The wine was un-remarkable but OK. The Pizzetta, however, was served cold, so I had it sent back for re-heating. I found the garlic spicing of the dish too exaggerated. Service at the Vancouver Urban Winery was friendly, but I saw the wait-staff drinking on the job, while filling drink orders. Some were highly engaged in conversation with other servers, rather than paying attention to customers. I would like to give the Vancouver Urban Winery another try before pronouncing judgment, and may just do so during my next visit to Vancouver.
