My wife and I stumbled upon this gem as we explored the area outside our hotel in the Buda Castle district. The aroma of butter and yeast wafting from the oven was intoxicating. We entered the simple establishment and chose a chocolate curl and an plum cream cheese Danish from the small selection of freshly baked wares. They were truly delicious, flaky buttery and not overly sweet. We returned a few hours later to buy some more and share with fellow guests at our hotel. All were impressed. In this day of frozen dough and buttery flavoured palm oil croissants, it was a breath of fresh air to sample quality baked goods prepared using traditional methods. Bear in mind, this is not a pastry shop; no crème patisserie or whipped cream in sight. It is a bakery with bread and yeast leavened sweet goods. The prices are ridiculously low, given the quality, 65 cents (USD) a piece. I have stayed at 5* hotels in many parts of the world that do not provide such quality in their dining venues. It was a mere 5-10 minute walk from the Buda castle hotel in which my wife and I stayed, and although we had all the sweets we could possibly consume provided in our hotel rate, we chose the short walk and insignificant expenditure as a much better option.
