After spending an enjoyable evening at the Tawandang in Bangkok several weeks ago, I decided to take the family to the Tawandang in Phnom Penh during our vacation there. We thoroughly enjoyed the stage show, atmosphere, food and beer here. Our 2 young children were captivated by the singers and dancers, and enjoyed the attention they received from the staff. They also enjoyed the food we ordered for them. There were also other families dining at Tawandang. The place was very busy on the night of our visit but there were only 2 tables of westerners there, with most customers being either Cambodian or Thai. We ordered the Pork Knuckle, which due to some special promotion came with a 3L tower of beer brewed at the Tawandang, and ordered a range of other Thai dishes to share. The food was more expensive than most places we had dined in Phnom Penh but I think this is justified by the great entertainment provided free of charge. There was a constant flow of singers and dancers singing songs in English and Khmer, in a wide range of different styles. The servers were very attentive and super friendly. We really enjoyed our visit here and would highly recommend it as “something different” to do while in Phnom Penh.
