First time here. Very cool spot, open beams and beautiful bar. Wood fired pizza oven makes it smell so great, but just a hint of it. This is becoming almost trite in Buffalo...... Exposed beams and brick... Industrial decor..... Wood fired brick oven.... Fancy sounding pizzas..... Hip sounding fancy expensive cocktails..... Craft beers. Okay, been there, done that. So, it needs to stand apart from the others, and it didn't. Service was not good. First waitress seemed confused??? Mind was elsewhere???? Who knows. But she didn't get our drinks because someone was filming some sort of a segment with a camera at the end of the 30 foot bar and she didn't want to walk past them. Mind you, it was 4:00 and empty. I asked her if she could approach the other end of the bar and she told us no, she had to ring it up. Okay....so no drinks. Then a different waitress comes over and says she is taking over. Okay....still kind of.....absent??? She was okay, but nothing special. We had to request things, sometimes twice. Fresh silverware, ice, something to wipe our hands after chicken wings. Not good. The food. Split a salad. It looked really pretty and fancy, with a cucumber slice wrapped around the whole shebang. But it lacked flavor. Very bland dressing and no salt on the table. Meh. Big enough to share but unimpressive. And not cheap. Then split barbecued chicken wings. Best food item of the night. Excellent, meaty, and moist. Two pizzas...the classic pepperoni and the chorizo and ricotta. The hand tossed crust was perfect. The toppings were good, but quite skimpy. Good thing the crust is tasty, because the majority of the pizza was crust. Again, the service was disappointing, because the wrong pizza came out and one had to be remade. Drinks were good. Didn't have dessert. All in all, the location across from Larkin Square is perfect, but there are better places for the now all too familiar brick oven pizza.
