Located on the 32nd floor of the East Hotel in Tai Koo Shing, this bar/deck/lounge has a funky feel to it with a resident DJ. It has a lovely open deck with great views of Hong Kong and the inside seating is on raised platforms so patrons sitting indoors can also take in the views. We were able to pre-book a table and lounge seating inside for 10 people which was appreciated on a Friday night where it is often impossible to turn up with that many people and be seated. The outside seating cannot be reserved and is allocated on a 'first come,' first served' basis. Sugar is also a great venue if you are seeing a movie at the Directors Club as it is located only a few minutes walk away. Offering a large range of international and signature cocktails and an extensive wine list, the Cocktails start from HK$105 and sharing jars (for two people) from HK$198. The international tapas was good and served quickly. We ordered a range of food including marinated olives, deep fried squid with lemon-chilli mayonnaise, grilled teriyaki scallops, pizza and sliders. They also offer desserts such as Rum Baba although we didn't have time to sample them. Sunday Roast on the Deck is also available from HK$195 If you are down in Tai Koo Shing, Sugar is definitely worth a visit. The tapas was good quality and served quickly.
