Don't leave Sydney without visiting Cockatoo Island for an interesting historical perspective on European settlement. This bar is on the other side of the island from the landing place, but it is worth the hike, either around the old workshops or over the top using the old, metal stairs. Good booze and good food. When we visited, a young German was in charge and very friendly she was too. I don't recommend the unshaded tables, pictured, but under cover is more relaxing.
