This is a very popular restaurant but turnover is quick. We had lunch here several times recently. We like in particular its Hokkien Fried Noodles with sweet soy sauce (see photo), Curry Laksa and Hainan Chicken with Steamed Rice.
I have been going to the Straits since it opened several years ago, I find the food has changed slightly, not as Tasty as it was, the serves are much smaller as previous & maybe not value for money. Saying that I do still enjoy the food but not as much as before.
Eight of us wanted to share a meal together over Easter and wanted relatively local and relatively inexpensive. Boy!! Did this place fit the bill !! The food was delicious and the service prompt and easy. The ambiance is very basic but this didn't detract from our enjoyment of the luscious food and great service. I always think if an International Restaurant (though they call themselves a Cafe) is full of 'Nationals' you're probably on a winner and this certainly held true in this case!! There was a constant stream of Malaysian Diners and many more calling in for Take-Aways. It's BYO and definitely value for money b We will be returning I'm sure!
Decided to drop in for my usual chay kwa teow which was delicious. As it was Sunday, decided to order the popiah (spring roll fresh not fried). It was simply delicious and the best we have tasted in ages. Just remember to book or you will be waiting for a table like attached photos.
