This was my first time having Peruvian food. It was phenomenal. Get the roasted chicken with plantains and yucca. The chicken is flavorful, moist and pairs nicely with their spicy green salsa. The plantains are crispy, sweet and addictive. The yucca is almost like french fry but better. Dip it in the mayo all and all an unforgettable budget friendly meal.
I'd heard of Peruvian chicken before, but had never tried it, so when hubby and I were walking around and spotted this place, I knew I had to have it. It was absolutely delicious!! The service could have been much better, but we just took it to go. Very unassuming outside and inside, but it's worth at least one try...
Before going to this place I have read other reviews and they were all saying if you just look at La Granja de Oro from outside you won't be tempted to try it but it is actually one of the best pollo a la brasa Peruvian style in DC. I absolutely confirm! The lady inside speaks Spanish, the restaurant has 6/7 tables and the thing that provided the atmosphere was the Colombian soap opera on Univision shown on TV inside! Food is great, portions very generous and cheap! We had an half chicken with yucca and salad, lomo saltado and tortillas, for less than 30$ in total for the 2 o us! Very good, recommended!
this place has pretty good chicken, yuca and lomos saltado . though they can be a little a stingy on the sauces (you get three very tiny containers of salad dressing i think, spicy green, mayo sauce and they don't like to give you more). the specials are usually pretty good, but you have to get there early because they make limited quantities. all in all it's definitely worth a visit. be warned it's not the cleanliest looking of place.
