This restaurant has been in its current location for around 15 years but hidden down a side street I have overlooked it and not visited before. My friend has and bought an offer voucher and invited me along. The restaurant has a very traditional French feel and is a dark interior with a lovely atmosphere. We were warmly welcomed and seated, offered drinks whilst we perused the menu. The voucher entitled us to the Table D'Hote only but this had plenty of choice. (The A La Carte was extensive.) We both opted for pork with Haricot Beans and the portion was massive. The pork was very tender and we both enjoyed it. Desserts were a more difficult choice as we liked them all but opted for profiteroles and lemon & raspberry crème brulee - again both scrumptious. Another nice touch was giving us each a privilege card for 10% off lunch on any subsequent visits. This is a really charming find for me and I will be back!
We were looking forward to eating here for the first time and booked well in advance. We arrived on time for our reservation but founds ourselves seated at a rather isolated table by the window. The restaurant interior is really lovely and the owner seems to make a point of saying Hello to people arriving which is good However, it was a full 30 minutes before our drinks order arrived and 45 minutes before our food order was even taken. Now, it's fine to let people settle down and relax when they arrive but such a lengthy wait is unusual and really not acceptable. Food was nice enough though not as "special" as French restaurants we've visited either in the Uk or in Europe. To be honest, we wanted to like the food more than we did as we really loved the style of the restaurant and French food is our favourite. We may give it another try at some point but we certainly won't be so patient with tardy service if we do return. I've given them the benefit of the doubt with a 4/5 score.
