It started rain when we arrived at Ryoanji Temple which is very famous as Zen temple in Kyoto. Sitting on the Corridor and watching the rock garden, I could feel the universe of infinity. Get rid of all human desires and passions that disturb my mind and make my mind empty, and face with the rocks and the mosses. Can feel peace in mind and joy of living... The rock garden tells me the world I live can be changed when I change my thought. All things have both sides of Bright and Dark, Front and Back... Therefore, it is important for us to try to see the Bright side... The rock garden in Ryoanji Temple tells me such thing... We got feeling that our mind was purified, and then we directed to Seigenin... Seigenin is "Tacchu" (sub-temple on the site of the main temple) of Ryoanji Temple and located quietly near Kyoyo Pond. In the gate, the Noren on which it is written as "◯天下一" is hanging from the ceiling. The circle "◯" which does not have any corner is the symbol of "Infinity" and it indicated hope of the Peace in the world. Get through the gate and move forward a little, we could see the entrance of Seigenin. We took off our shoes at the entrance and get on the Tatami room. There are many tables with Hibachi in center in the big Tatami room. Hibachi is a small Japanese charcoal heating appliance somewhat resembling a brazier. We could watch the garden and make our mind peaceful. We felt we came to Zen Temple when we heard the rhythmical sound from Iiodoshi, Water-filled bamboo tube which clacks against a stone when emptied We have booked ShojinRyori, vegetarian cuisine originally derived from the dietry restrictions of Buddhist monks, in advance, the Seven Herb Yudofu (boiled tofu) in a big earthenware pot was delivered to our table just soon after we sat on the Tatami mat.
