Stopped in on our way to the Coliseum and left very satisfied. Disclaimer; first Peruvian cuisine experience. You should probably know some Spanish or Italian coming in, but the servers were quite helpful, considering my limited knowable of both. Skip the Inca fritters, but our meals were great.
We stumbled across this restaurant when we ventured out of the city centre to eat in a non touristic area and we couldn't have picked a better restaurant! The service was brilliant, although staff didn't speak much English, it was enough to get us our wonderful food. We ordered the rice with seafood - it was bursting with flavours - finely chopped coriander, a hint of lime and rice was seasoned to perfection! Not to mention that the portion was really generous and plenty of seafood on the plate - no stinginess!! Would definitely recommend to try this place!
We tried this simply because Peruvian food felt like an interesting diversion and because it was less than 100 and metres away from the apartment we were staying in. This is a part of Rome with the majority of customers are locals, but where tourists are not unheard of! The menu was written in Latin American Spanish and translated into Italian only. There was not a single member of staff who spoke even one word of either English or French. No one was able to give the slightest explanation of what any dish was about. Since the whole menu was Peruvian specialities, that was a definite problem! We gave in and simply chose items off the menu at random and were extremely pleased to have done so. We ate there three times in a two-week visit. We never had any idea what we were going to eat until it arrived and were never disappointed. The seafood in particular was varied and interesting. That is as good a way to introduce yourself to a cuisine you know nothing about as you can get. I am now looking hard for a Peruvian restaurant in the South of France where we could get to talk to someone about what we were eating.
